An open house for visiting the exhibitions of Sorin Blum’s art works.
The visit includes explanations and demonstrations of the different works and the artist’s unique technique.
“until the early 80’s, i used to draw using familliar techniques: pencil, ink, charcoal, oil etc.
during those years, I started developing a special and unique technique to create pictures.
I was looking for a more rudimentary material with which I can work, a material that could challenge me.
In me searches, i found natural wood.
I am using small pieces of wood, using the different colors, shades, shapes and textures of the wood. I use it as paint to create the pictures. I add no other colors. The paintings are made solely out of the natural colors of the wood I use.
I call it “painting with wood”
In 2002, I first created a “dinamic picture”. It is a picture that has the potential to change at any given moment.
Usually, when a painter is done with the picture, they sign it and it stays static forever.
I invented a dynamic picture.
